CD

Receiving your course material on CD-ROM is our most popular method (this gives students portability - some even take their CD’s with them on holidays!). The course material may also be copied and saved to a USB stick, as well as downloading, printing and binding the lessons into a folder for you to organise. CD’s are also an excellent choice for people who have a computer but do not have internet  access or have a slow connection.

Online

Online students require a reliable internet connection. Our Student Study Zone allows you to view all of your course material online, anywhere in the world. Students can watch videos, read notes and study illustrations on the computer screen then complete self assessment quizzes to gauge their learning.

Correspondence

Course material may be supplied in a printed format. Students work through notes, practical tasks and assignments. The student is guided by a printed study guide and accompanying materials as well as advice and feedback from tutors. Assignments are submitted to tutors for grading and feedback, and exams can be taken anywhere in the world.

Recommended Sequence of ICB Courses

1. Basic Bookkeeping – Compulsory
2. Level II  - Manual Bookkeeping
3. Level II - Computerised Bookkeeping

After successfully passing the three (3) examinations at the above levels you are entitled to apply for Associate Membership of the ICB under their new regulations and have the initial AICB after your name. Also, at this level you are then qualified to start your own  bookkeeping business (if that is your goal) – in this instance you will need to apply for the ICB's Practising Certificate.

4. Level III - Diploma in Payroll Management BBS403
5. Level III - Diploma in Manual Bookkeeping BBS310
6. Level III - Diploma in Computerised Bookkeeping

What Sets ADL Apart?

"We treat all of our students as individuals and not by their student ID's."
Amanda White, Academy Registrar.

The hallmark of any good distance learning college is the level of support it provides to its students. This includes tutor accessibility, motivation and encouragement together with a supportive administration.

Not all distance learning institutions are the same. Services and level of student support varies from institution to institution, irrespective of the school's global location. The main factor to look at when choosing a distance learning course, is to examine the level of student support provided by the school.

Some schools, for example, may only allow you to contact the tutor a set number of times during the course. If you exceed that number, you are charged extra for each additional contact made.

Other schools may charge an additional fee every time you wish to speak with the tutor. Some schools don't allow any contact with tutors at all.

Every ADL student is assigned a tutor who supports you throughout your course and beyond. Your tutor is there to guide and facilitate your learning and provides as much or as little individual contact as you would like. When you submit your coursework the tutor will give you feedback that helps you develop your ideas and provides motivation. For those who do like to have interaction with other students, the ADL discussion forum connects you to students from all over the world.

So What Does Set Us Apart?

So what is it that make us different from the others? Take a look at what we offer below:

Unlimited Tutor Support

Right from the beginning you are assigned your own personal expert tutor whom you may contact as often as you like. We encourage dialogue between you and your tutor.

Qualified & Experienced Tutors

Our tutors are highly qualified and experienced and provide an exceptionally high standard of tuition. They must also be active within their respective industry.

Tutor Feedback

Tutors provide feedback at the end of each graded assignment. We believe this dialogue is essential for a better understanding of the topic.

Practical Tasks

At the end of each lesson there is a practical task to complete. These tasks help you develop your skills through practical experience.

Accessible Course Materials

With ADL, you have the opportunity to choose from 3 learning methods; online, CD or corresspondence.

Internationally Recognised and Accredited

ADL is recognised and accredited by various accreditation memberships, including IARC - International & Accreditation Recognition Council.

Flexibility

If your circumstances change, that’s not a problem. If you want to delay the completion of your course, just let us know. Everybody's circumstances are different.

No Assignment Deadlines

Assignments can be submitted at your own convenience.  All tutors are required to mark assignments within 5 days, enabling you to move on to the next assignment.

No Hidden Extras or Costs

There are no hidden costs. The published tuition fees are all that you pay. All the necessary course material and notes are included in the tuition fees, with unlimited tutor access. The only extras that may be required are for public exams required to sit the RHS and ICB courses.

Student Support

If you have any technical problems or queries during your studies with ADL, a member of our student support team will be available to help you out Monday to Friday.

Is it all new to you?

From the beginning of enrolment, ADL encourages students to submit their first assignment as soon as possible. The primary purpose of the first assignment is to open the lines of communication between you and your tutor. It doesn't matter if you make mistakes because this allows the tutor to get a better idea of where you need help.

Are you uncertain what is required in your assignments?
Are you a little lacking in confidence?
Has it been a long time since you did any study?

If you answer yes to any or all of these questions, then you are you are in good company! Believe it or not, many other students find their assignments a little daunting...particularly the first two.

Don’t worry!

The purpose of the assignments is to develop dialogue and communication between you and your tutor. This communication provides the basis of acquiring further knowledge in addition to the course material.

Failing assignments does not mean that you fail your course; it simply means that you need to learn more before you pass. If your assignments are unsatisfactory, you will be asked to repeat part or all of the work. However, even though most students worry about their first assignments with a correspondence course, very few need to repeat work. Those who put the effort in when asked to repeat almost always pass on their second attempt.

Can’t find the information…

Remember, the academy has the experts and the library facilities to help. If there are things you cannot find or lack resources to find them, we will help. You are expected to make an effort to find information and answers to questions yourself, but if you are getting nowhere or are having trouble getting replies from people in industry when doing research, then you should submit what you can of your assignment and explain to your tutor.

At ADL we are here to help provide you with all the support necessary for you to succeed in your chosen course.
